FACIAL TRANSPLANTATION

FACIAL TRANSPLANTATION

In April 2009 Professor Laurent Lantieri was one of two surgeons who performed the world's first operation on a patient who received a new face and two new hands in a single operation. The transplant was performed at the Henri Mondor Hospital, near Paris and lasted 30 hours. Professor Lantieri replaced the patient's entire face above the lips, including the scalp, nose, ears and forehead
