Review(s):
The proposal is an enjoyable romcom starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
Bullock plays Margaret Tabe, uptight editor of a publishing house. She is hated and feared by her employees, especially her assistant Andrew Paxton (Reynolds).
When faced with imminent deportation due to visa expiry Margaret thinks that the solution is to marry Andrew. She sets about bribing him, and when he agrees she accompanies him on a trip to see his family.
The family live in the small town of Sitka, Alaska, and are welcoming if not suspicious of Margaret.
The comedy lies in watching Margaret, who is so very uptight, trying to fit in. Bullock is very funny, whilst Reynolds is very easy on the eye. The supporting cast are good too, with an appearance by one of the Golden Girls as Gammy (Grandma).
An enjoyable film if undemanding film, with no foul language, violence and only one very brief nudity scene.
